Please eat well and be well hydrated on the day of your appointment, this will also help you deal with pain. I don’t mind how many times you require the toilet.

Please moisturise and exfoliate the area that is going to be tattooed for at least a week prior to your appointment. This helps to make the skin more supple.

Tattoo Aftercare

just as important as the artwork itself

Your new tattoo is a collaboration — a piece of art created with precision and care. Its lasting quality depends not only on the skill of the artist, but also on how well you look after it in the days and weeks to come.

To ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and retains its vibrancy for years to come, we ask that you follow our aftercare instructions carefully. These guidelines are designed to protect your skin, minimise the risk of infection, and preserve the detail and colour of your new tattoo.

Think of aftercare as the final step in the tattoo process.

Inkporium will contact you to see if your tattoo requires a touch up. Free touch ups are at the studio’s discretion.

Aftercare Advice

Leave the second skin applied in the studio for 24hrs, carefully remove film with a little water on the top corner and pull it slowly down close to the skin. Then clean with warm water (not hot) and a little unperfumed antibacterial soap, pat dry with kitchen roll as this is more hygienic. The skin needs to be dry before you apply the 2nd lot of second skin, making sure the tattoo is covered and is stuck to at least 2cm of skin around the tattoo, and leave this on for 4 days. If it comes away before that, don’t panic just start the next stage.

Once the second skin has been removed, keep the tattoo clean and moisturise with a thin layer of the recommended tattoo balm Yayo around 2–4 times a day is average. Do NOT apply a thick layer of balm — this will result in you suffocating your tattoo.

The tattoo is going to be sore for a few days, and possibly swollen, so be careful not to catch it on anything and to wear loose clothing in that area. Treat it like you would a wound as that is basically what it is.

Keep the tattoo clean, warm showers are advised (not hot), do NOT soak/submerge the tattoo in water.

  • Avoid the gym and/or exercise until the tattoo is healed – sweating is NOT good for your healing tattoo.
  • Do NOT go in the sun or use sunbeds whilst your tattoo is healing.
  • Do NOT excessively intake alcohol during the healing process.

The healing process differs for everyone, but on average it should take 2–4 weeks.

Long-term care I always advise using a high sun factor or block on your tattoos and to moisturise them regularly as this will help the longevity of the tattoo.

Any problems or questions do not hesitate to contact the studio.
